Want to Conceive a Baby Boy?

If you're wanting to conceive a boy, either to carry on the family name, to balance your family, or to produce a sports fan or player, there are a few things you should know.

Understanding Y Sperm Characteristics: A man's sperm contains two types of chromosomes: X and Y. If the sperm containing the Y (boy) chromosomes fertilize the egg first, it will result in a son. If the sperm containing the X (girl) chromosomes fertilize the egg, the conception will result in a daughter. This is simple enough, but there are many factors that can effect whether Y or X partners with the egg.

First, Y (boy) sperm are fast swimmers. Given no other variables, they generally reach the egg first. But, they are not as strong as the X (female) sperm and can not survive for long, especially if the vaginal environment / PH is one that is hostile to them.

Why Trying To Conceive Frequently Around The Time Of Ovulation Is Not Optimal For Getting A Boy: When most couples are trying to conceive, they will basically block out a period lasting several days in which they think the woman is most fertile. They will then have intercourse multiple times over this "fertility window," hoping that one of these occasions is the one that produces their baby.

There is nothing wrong with this method if you are neutral about the sex of your baby, but if you want a boy, this is not the way to go. The reason for this is that if the sperm is released days prior to your ovulation, you're more likely to conceive a girl because the X (girl) sperm are hardy enough to hang out and wait for the egg, but the boy sperm are not. They will mostly die off before the egg is released.

You Need Extremely Accurate Knowledge Of Ovulation To Conceive A Son: Since the boy sperm can't survive for long, it's optimal to conceive on the day of ovulation. There are many ways to predict this, but most require subjective evaluation of cervical mucus and positioning that can be very hard to read. Ovulation prediction kits are preferable. Of those, testing your saliva is by far the most accurate in my own experience. This is important because if you are off by even a day or two, you up the chances of conceiving a daughter.

A few tips ovulation prediction to increase their chances of having a baby boy.

Tip 1 - Along with using such a kit a couple should also consider using a basal body thermometer as well. Each morning the woman should take her basal body temperature and then record it on a chart. Through using the information collected a woman will quickly be able to look back and see when she is normally ovulating.

Tip 2 - Although most kits recommend you only test once a day it is actually far better if you do it at least twice each day. By testing twice each day a woman will have more chance of recognizing when her LH (luteinizing hormone) levels are increasing. These levels increase only very briefly in the body during the day and testing twice a day increases the chances of a woman knowing when it is actually happening.

Tip 3 - It is important that the woman carries out the ovulation prediction tests at the same time each day. Although many women prefer to do theirs in the morning and afternoon you don't have to. However, it is important that if you start off doing one test in the morning and one in the evening then you should do the same every day thereafter. By keeping to the same times each day you have more chance of actually noticing when your LH levels have increased.

1.    The woman needs to know when her menstrual cycle is taking place.  The best way of doing this is by keeping a record of her basal body temperature for a number of months.  Doing this she will be able to more accurately pinpoint when ovulation is going to occur.

2.    If at all possible the man should avoid ejaculating at least 4 to 5 days prior to ovulation occurring if the couple wishes to conceive a boy.

3.    The couple should be aiming to make love around 12 hours before the woman begins ovulating.  To know when this is the woman should have been keeping a record of her basal body temperature or using some other method.  Another way of her to tell when ovulation is about to occur is through using an ovulation prediction kit.

4.    If a couple are wanting to conceive a boy rather than a girl then they need to use sexual positions which will help to get the sperm as close to the cervix as they possibly can.  Remember the sperm carrying the Y chromosome although it swims more quickly dies off more quickly.  Rear entry positions have proven quite effective.

5.    The woman should make sure that they orgasm during the love making as this will further assist in helping to move the sperm towards the egg.  The quicker the sperm carrying the Y chromosomes are able to reach the egg the more chances they have of actually fertilizing it.

Foods to eat to conceive a boy baby

It has been said that certain foods help make the cervical fluid (cf) more alkaline or acidic and to get a boy baby you need to make your cf more alkaline since that favors the Y chromosome sperm.

According to research by Oxford and Exeter universities, many first time mothers were studied according to their diets and the gender of their child and among the group the highest percentage of boys (56%) was to women who ate a high calorie, high potassium diet.

In fact the study went on to look at other factors and nutrients and the more vitamins and nutrients that the mother took prior to conceiving the more likely she was to have a male child.

Foods that were particularly beneficial to having a healthy baby boy included lots of potassium (banana’s are high in potassium), steak and potatoes, foods high in calories such as cake and biscuits and also breakfast cereal every morning (according to some statistics you have an 87% chance of conceiving a baby boy by not skipping breakfast!) Of course there have been no clinical trials on the effects of breakfast versus no breakfast for conceiving a boy or girl, but it makes sense since the Oxford study suggest the more nutrients you get the higher the chances of getting a boy.

Of course diet isn’t the only thing that can influence whether you get a boy or girl, but if it moves the odds in your favor just a tiny bit it’s worth trying along with other methods for falling pregnant with a boy baby.

As I mentioned earlier, a more alkaline pH level is much better for conceiving a boy and there are few ways that you can achieve that without douching (douching can cause health problems and may even lead to infertility in extreme cases).

The absolute best way that you can quickly change the pH level of your reproductive tract is to have an orgasm. Yes the good news is that as soon as the woman has climaxed the fluid she produces makes the pH levels much more favorable to having a boy.

Of course changing your diet also helps such as eating more red meat and salty snacks, but it isn’t quite as fun.
